heidemaatschappij is an essay film, in pre-production. it traces the systematic destruction of land knowledge held in common, from 754 ce to the present, following how the dutch colonisation of their own heathlands became a template for colonial practice elsewhere. it reads the present nitrogen crisis as the endpoint of that internal colonisation. built from archival material, institutional histories and landscape cinematography, the film documents 1,300 years of resistance to the killing of ways of living: cosmocide.
